Exploring

As a kid the only comics I was even able to read were the ones with the simplest layouts and line drawings, primary colors, and left to right evenly laid out text. The superhero/supervillain comics were too chaotic for my eyes. So, when I would read comics, which was not very often, I chose Richie Rich, Archie, Casper and the like, never Super or Spiderman. Luckily, my mind was changed when my son became interested in reading graphic novels when he was in high school. These were not what I had known comics to be. These were amazing works of art, important and skillfully written, a very powerful medium for telling stories, fiction and non-fiction. I developed a true appreciation for the art form, but not moved to pursue it even as a hobby. Only lately, having picked up a pen after many years of not doing artwork, with my new found enthusiasm for all forms of art and expression, do I find myself wanting to draw in series, to draw a story.  I have no expectation for a readership, just an expressionship, for my joy and for my life.
